Help us to change the lives of more children in Birmingham, through the power of music.

A string ensemble at our Youth Proms event

Every year as part of our work, we bring together nearly 4,000 young musicians from across Birmingham, to form over 90 ensembles that are specifically designed to cater for all genres and abilities. Being part of one of our Ensembles is free for our young musicians, removing the cost barrier for many of them, but it costs us between £150 – £350 a year for each Ensemble placement.

Our young musicians are nurtured and supported by our skilled professional tutors and conductors, developing their confidence and musical abilities, as they work towards the most memorable performances on the stages of Birmingham’s most prestigious venues.

“Through Services For Education, I was able to have free instrumental tuition, free instrument loans and access to free coached ensembles ranging from their Big Band through to their Symphony Orchestra. They equipped me with all the tuition and tools that I needed throughout my 10 years with them completely free of charge. Music education can be a life changer and a lifesaver; it can level the playing field and provide people with the skills they will need to tackle an increasing challenging and demanding work place.”

Together we can make a difference

Engagement with music has the power to build confidence, develop practical skills and give young people a new outlet for their focus and talents. Ensemble experience does this, and more.
