“I just wanted to send you a message to say how amazing M and my dad found Tiger Tiger – when I called my dad after work he was absolutely buzzing about it and it sounded incredible!! Both M and the other service user who went got so much from it. I had a tear in my eye when my dad was talking to me about it all and how much M communicated non verbally. I really hope it is successful for you all because it is such a wonderful opportunity you are giving to adults like M. I really hope there is one session in a half term so that I can go with M!!! Congratulations on this amazing project. Best wishes, E’“

Community For Those In Need
We provide opportunities for children and adults to become part of a community. This is more important than ever during tough times.

Our free music lessons, ensembles and instrument loans make it possible for everyone, no matter what background, to find their passion for music.
Make a Real Difference
As a small, local charity, any donation, large or small will make a huge difference to us and help us make an even greater impact to people in Birmingham.
why we do what we do…
At SFE, we know that music has a profound impact on children. Because we witness it every day.
Music has the power to improve mental health, to inspire and encourage, and to boost confidence and general happiness.
We have a vision to reach as many children across Birmingham, sending them on a journey through music, regardless of their backgrounds or circumstances; music for all. We want to raise awareness and important funds to be able to reach more people, enabling change across Birmingham, through music.
Feel free to get in touch with us using our online contact form.
SFE FREE MUSIC ENSEMBLES
Every year, we bring together 2,000 young people from across Birmingham and form over 90 ensembles, specialising in a variety of instruments.
All of our ensemble members are nurtured and supported by our skilled professional tutors and conductors, developing their confidence and musical abilities.
Members will also take part in memorable performances on the stages of Birmingham’s most prestigious venues, celebrating their musical achievements to packed audiences.
We do not charge for our ensembles because imposing a charge would create an immediate barrier for many families who would struggle to afford these costs.
SFE MUSIC SERVICE
One of our main aims is to help bring more music to schools in England, starting in Birmingham.
We do this by offering a variety of in-school services, including special workshops, music teachers for hire, annual reporting, assembly support, advisory visits and training courses.
We have wide-ranging capabilities so if there is something music-related that a school needs, chances are, we provide it.
Our Music Service is the go-to place for music provision in Birmingham and we work with 95% of schools.
